Does SMA's wear of the ASU indicate forthcoming changes about when and where ACUs will be worn?

Until I see it I can only speculate that it was after his swearing in as SMA or another function where ASU was required. Also many personnel assigned to the Pentagon are required to wear class B.

Let's hope he makes that change. It is a little much seeing soldiers roaming the mall, restaurants, the airport, the grocery store etc etc etc in utilities (I think the Army calls them ACU's). It makes the Army look unprofessional in my opinion.

The uniform the SMA is wearing is professional and wears very well. Hopefully everyone can get into them. Based upon some of the posts here, that might be an issue but forcing them to wear a dress uiform will force them to get into height/weight standards or suffer. Wearing the uniform more will improve image and morale once the bitching is done.

Utilities are great for everyday wear on base, at work etc. That is about it.

It should be simple. If you're a desk jockey in garrison, dress in a business-like uniform. If your crawling around in dirty ass floors, moving furniture, etc. it's not professional looking to wear ASU's in that environment. The Army merely needs a standard of dressing to the work you're doing.

I'm not really all that concerned about what the senior enlisted of the Army wore before he took up his latest duty. However at his level its been well documented which uniform he should be wearing

I had a discussion with a Navy Commander when I was working on Ft. Belvoir regarding the Service & Tactical uniforms. His insights were thought provoking.

When wearing the Service uniform, you are "approachable," when wearing a Tactical uniform, you should NOT be approachable. It should present an image that there is danger.One is business attire, the other is tactical EQUIPMENT, which is used for a specific purpose.

When I was at my first unit (3/1), 99% of the time, we wore Utilities, because our work required it. For a stretch, we started wearing Service "C" (Green pants, Short Sleeve tan top) on Fridays. That went on for about a month, until one Friday where only two people showed up wearing them (me & the 1stSgt). Everyone asked me if I had Duty. Apparently, if you don't publish it, people just go back into their old habits.

When I got to Quantico, I was informed on check in, there was a base order that Utilities would be worn on Wednesdays. Which did make sense since we spent 90% of our time in an office/classroom environment.

I believe, we will be back to ASU B or A soon... at least places like the pentagon etc. ACUs should be for units and tactical use only... not the pentagon, traveling... etc...
