I suppose it looks impressive to someone who has never seen the firepower and precision of an Apache helicopter in the attack, but there don't seem to be any of those around fighting ISIS, are there?

Not bad for 40+ year old technology...The Hind was by far, the most feared helicopter in the world in the 1970's/80's. It is still a battle wagon for sure but I think it is not as far out in front as it was when it was introduced circa 1972.

The Russians are serious about Syria. We don't seem to be. When we compare air assets and ground forces in country, who do we expect to win the "hearts and minds" of the Syrians?

I too am glad I never faced an MI-24 Hind helicopter COL Ted Mc and CPT L S. I think I would have preferred facing the Hind than an Apache helicopter and certainly would never want to be looking at an A-10 Warthog as it was attacking me.
I tried to vote up 1Lt Scott Doyle and discovered that I am blocked :-(

The only problem is that they are not attacking ISIS. They are providing support for the Assad regime, against the Syrians we (and the Sunni world) are aligned with.
