Just logged on to my computer about 30 minutes ago and saw this was downloaded to my desktop. is this some new thing the AF is doing to remind Airman what they swore to? I think a lot of us could stand to go through a doctrine training class every couple years.

Sounds like a copy of the Army "Profession of Arms" white papers for the last 6 years...

Seems fitting, since they Air Forces is a... oops... we're not supposed to talk about that are we? ;-)

I think this is well done, TSgt Joshua Copeland .

A Profession of Arms - Right off the bat, it starts with why we are here and why this is necessary. Add to the, the fact that you raised your hand to volunteer and realize the fact that other jobs typically don't expect you to risk your life.

The rest of the book covers what is expected of an airman: Code of Conduct, Airman's Creed, Core Values, etc.

First, I can appreciate the definitions behind the core values. Everyone has their idea of what Integrity, Service and Excellence are. However, this sets the expectations more firmly in place.

Second, I will never fault big Air Force for trying to get everyone on the same page. You will have your nay-sayers. Guaranteed. I am sure that someone is brewing up some bent up rendition of this for some blog.

There are criticisms about the Airman's Creed, the Core Values...you name it. Big AF is trying to establish a sense of tradition. We fly airplanes, we fix airplanes, we equip airplane, we gather intelligence, we protect stuff, we bomb stuff, and we do have SF Operators, too...have a great day.

What I don't want is this become a "What are the three parts of Integrity First?" on a promotion board. This shouldn't become a test of memorization. It should be a 'does this airman walk to talk'?

I believe this is a good version and something to use as a foundation to build on as Airmen. It is very readable and is to the point both are things I need in my life!
