In a Facebook post Saturday, Rumbaugh said: “Less than 24 hours away from the day that changed my life forever. All I can say is thank you to everyone who has been there for me, pushed me and didn’t give up on me. I owe you all more than I could ever repay you.”
Five years ago today, Brandon Rumbaugh’s life drastically changed.
While helping a fellow wounded soldier in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device wound claimed both of his legs. The now 26-year-old Marine went from the scorching valleys of the Middle East to the streets of Uniontown that he called home.
Last year, Rumbaugh was a recipient of a home specially designed for his disability. It was through Rumbaugh’s good fortune that he felt a call to action for the staggering amount of homeless veterans.
“A lot of people are so consumed in their everyday lives that they don’t really understand the things that are going on. If you can actually sit down and take the time to talk with people, and show them what they need to do, it’ll help tremendously,” said Rumbaugh, who has spent the last 30 days on those very streets to call attention to his fellow veterans in plight.

Everyone should take time to watch this video. I thought this video was going a different direction. I can relate to many of the things he said and I think a lot of others can too.

I know this is going to make someone mad but I'm not sorry, I really feel so strongly that we need to take care of our veterans and our service members before we care for the " refugees". Thank you for having me read this post.

Both came about from the government's military actions. The government should not be playing world police if it is not prepared to deal with the consequences.

This sort of stuff is the reason I'm going to medical school. Regenerative medicine is it there, I've worked with it in the civilian world, but it's decentralized. I want to use the proven research of companies like acell and others to patch up our Joes. With biomedical engineering printing organs it won't be long before parts are printed. Every day feels like an eternity with an injury and pain. I know. But these guys deserve the fruits of all the hard work and technology, not pain pills and hard streets.
