Have you Seen this Letter from a Trump Supporter?

I'm not a supporter, but I like the message that this individual is sending to Trump - we should be sending this to all the candidates!

No I have not seen the letter from the Trump supporter COL Mikel J. Burroughs.
I wanted to reply point by point to the 15 points but that may take some time.
1. Make space on all military bases where homeless veterans can live [unfortunately this would seem to be closer to a concentration camp mentality.]
2 Large tents to live in [lack of basic privacy and personal security]
3. Free food [somebody has to pay for it - the taxpayer]
4. If they want to offer their time and service, receive a monthly pay [sounds like the job corps which is funded at taxpayer expense at marginal benefit to those employed or the people they serve.
That is enough time to spend on this letter in my opinion.

This has got to be one of the best Fridays ever..... Some while true, I don't know about other parts of it. But the fact that it names Trump as the next president has me laughing.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - Interesting ideas.

I am not sure that turning military installations into homeless shelters is a great idea, although giving veterans an opportunity to contribute in exchange for shelter and food (similar to the CCC Camps of yesteryear) is not a totally bad idea.

I like "simple" messages.

I think our politicians are making "policies" (root word of politicians) needlessly complex.

My personal motto is "Don't overthink the problem," and I am a firm believer of approaching things from that standpoint. This letter works under that philosophy. Sure, it's not perfect. No plan is. But hell, it could be implemented in short order, with minimal guidance, and have immediate response. That's how a "plan" works. Once you have a plan, then you develop a Policy.

Our Politicians have forgotten that. They develop Policy, then try to build a Plan around it.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs first off I agree with your sentiment that this should have been sent to ALL candidates not just the one that the writer supports. Second, there are a lot of good points in this article, but some of them are not practical. Eliminating ONE government employee is a process that takes a year (unless it is the military in which case they can say "thanks for your service please fuck off" to 146,000 on a whim) due to the bureaucratic red tape involved. Third, there is nation building to be done, and that is accomplished by throwing money at it. So while we have homeless issues here, they will continue not to be dealt with so long as their is nation building to be done overseas.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs I like the sentiment of the letter but not the specifics of how the execution is recommended. I think the VA effort to eliminate Veteran homelessness is a better strategy. http://www.va.gov/homeless/

The first thing that I saw was that taken care of our own and why not some may start groups to mentor our young soldiers and Butter Bars so many can learn from experiences of past wars and show how great this nation is and how to make it greater once again.

While it's not the most well written letter I've ever read it does have some good ideas/addresses important issues. What I like best are points 13 through 15. Many veterans have great ideas for business startups but don't know what they need to do to start them, have the resources to start them, or are worried that they can't afford all the taxes and regulations associated with business ownership.

I myself have an idea for a small business but have no idea how to get it started, advertising its service, everything, LOL.

I don't think turning military bases into homeless veteran camps is a good idea. Much of this is naïve and overly simplistic. The sentiment of helping veterans in need is noble but veterans must also be willing to take care of themselves. We do not need to create a new victim class in this country. Not trying to be cold or callous here. Some do indeed need help but many others are simply gaming the system.

I like this message as well and have advocated opening portions of Army bases for years... Ft Bliss especially where they have a great Army hospital and mothballed barracks they could have easily opened. I even volunteered to find them the money! When I pushed for this I was told that the Army did not want to admit to failure when it came to homeless vets.... Can you imagine such arrogance and ingratitude! It made me ashamed of America for the first time. That’s why I am voting for Trump… he has the guts that I’m used to seeing in real Americans. Always ready, Mike Bressler (West Point `68)
