I do believe, however, mass recruitment via the Army Times is a bad move. While I understand the need to introduce new blood to our career field, we should do so through a concerted recruitment effort that is integrated into our CAP and TARP programs. I don't need another round of neck tattoo's showing up to my office asking to join my ranks. Hard to be professional that way.

For those that honestly want to join the CI Field. I suggest you do so knowing all of the facts. Right now, over half of the Army's CI SGT's are awaiting promotion to SSG. I think we've only promoted ~30 this year. Of the SSG's eligible for SFC, I think 6 or 7 were promoted. I'm trying to let you know that promotions are not easy to come by in our career field, so do not apply with the expectation that you will get promoted fast. You wont.

What you will get is a truly unique look at how the Army operates and insight into what it takes to secure our equities. In 18 years of being a CI Agent, I've not had a chance to see all that our MOS has to offer. This career field has many opportunities to conduct your wartime mission 24/7, 365 days a year, globally. Are these rules applied to the Army National Guard as well? I can't seem to find anything that will tell me otherwise. My main question is in regards to language dependency. Specifically, I'm curious to know if 35L is a language dependent MOS? I took the DLAB for 35M and scored a 91...4 points away from meeting the required DLAB score of 95 (just my luck I guess). At any rate, the rules state,

"7. Accession date for PS/GNPS who enlist for primary option 18 (First
Assignment Only) will be determined by the ROC. Once the objectives/
requirements have been met by MOS and grade, that MOS and grade will be closed.
The following vacancies are available provided the applicant is otherwise
qualified and meet NCOES requirements for enlistment grade.

a. Vacancies by grade and MOS (changes based on the needs of the Army):
(1) Grades E-1 thru E-4 - 13M, 13R, 31E, 35L, 35P (language dependent),
68B(68W10P1), 68N(68W10Y6) or Enhanced Prior Service Opportunities.
(2) Grade E-5 - 27D (ASI "C5" only (27D2C5)), 35L, 35P (language
dependent), or 68V.
(3) Grade E-6 - 35P (language dependent).
(4) Grade E-7 - 35P (language dependent).
(5) Grade E-8 and above - no vacancies."

Line (2) is confusing...any help will be greatly appreciated. My current recruiter stated that both 35M and 35L are language dependent but I don't know if this is true (I believe he may be confused as well). I'm scheduled to take the DLPT for Spanish later this month, however, if 35L is not language dependent, I would much rather go that route instead of 35M as my end goal is to gain experience as a 1811 so that I may better transition into a federal agent capacity.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance to those that provide me with the knowledge required.

:D Response by Sgt Jose Paez made Sep 24 at 2015 9:39 AM 2015-09-24T09:39:28-04:00 2015-09-24T09:39:28-04:00 Sgt Private RallyPoint Member 1235916

I think it's a great field, with exposure to many areas and training not normally available to non-intel MOS's (obviously), but not for me.
