Have you watched this powerful video about ptsd from a spouse? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/have-you-watched-this-powerful-video-about-ptsd-from-a-spouse

I'm posting this with Veteran's Day right around the corner. As we go about our day spending time with our families and friends. We need to remember those brothers and sisters who we served with and reach out. Even if it is just a simple hello.

I write this as a soldier and as army health care personnel. Large amounts of our force battle today with PTSD alone. I see it daily come through my doors and often times all that SM needed was a little guidance and some information. what we need is education. It's all of our own responsibility to be able to recognize signs of a brother or sister struggling with an event and help. The same way we would if you saw one of your guys limping hard after a morning run. If you don't know them i beg you to familiarize yourself with them (See below). Even something as little in the day as sending your brother or your soldier into a clinic or TMC. We'll handle it from there.

This holiday I'll be spending it with my family. thankful that I was fortunate enough to come home. I'll be reaching out to those I've served with, especially my brothers I deployed with who ensured i didn't do anything to stupid so I could come home. lastly and always I'll have a cold beer and a plate set aside for those brothers who were called upon to make that ultimate sacrifice for us.

Now to really dampen the mood please watch this video and hear her story.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?ebc=ANyPxKqHpJijH8Yx8k0WDCGHIKkqakccsyP8zpdQWvIj6LJK-h93KPsUQsebZyQb1noy501tGVrqs-pzBSzUE9PyeLptDIZ-bw&time_continue=347&v=cO3yqjSrwT0

Signs of PTSD
http://www.ptsd.va.gov/public/PTSD-overview/basics/symptoms_of_ptsd.asp

Signs of possible suicidal thoughts in your soldiers
http://www.armymwr.com/suicide-signs.aspx

With this one (suicide) I can't express enough the importance of keeping someone with the possible suicidal soldier!
