Headed to Fort Carson 1st Space BDE, does anyone have any insight about off post housing and the unit itself?

SSG Private RallyPoint Member FYI school is back in session for most of the area districts. If you live on Carson or in Fountain, your kids will go to Fountain-Ft Carson D8 schools

Housing was a bit thought to find for us. Pet friendly places were more difficult to find here compared to other duty stations.

Houses are expensive to buy and go fast. I would recommend living on post or in the fountain area. You would come in gate 20 which is where most of the units are. It’s on the east side of post. There isn't much west of post and the neighborhood directly to the north and north east is questionable for safety at times.

Wasn't part of the space BDE but I was stationed there for many years. For a family of four there are many choices for off post living. The nicer living areas are further north Colorado Springs (roughly 30-40 minute commute in the morning, roughly an hour long commute after work.) The housing market is still going up so you could purchase an inexpensive house and sell it later on for a bit of a profit, and if you know how to do your own home improvement that's even better.
