Of course you can go to the recruiter's office, but I would wait until you have a some information first (best to be armed, so to speak). Another option is to visit a Naval Reserve unit and speak with them, usually there is a full-timer during the week. Just remember there are differences between the Guard and Reserves, though they are both part-time, the Guard is state level, the Reserves are federal and there other rules regarding deployments and such. They will help you out without even blinking. They are great. Start with the Navy website. http://www.navy.com/

America's Navy Recruiting : Navy.com

Looking to join the US Navy as Enlisted or as an Officer? I was prior service Marine, and when I joined the Navy reserve, I had a ton of Seabee options, master at arms (MP), or weather/oceanography. There's no guaranteed way to determine what will be available. I know that MA is undermanned right now. And the only way I know how to check the manning level is through Navy systems which are CAC/DON systems. You can look up CREO to see where they were previously, but obviously that doesn't help. I absolutely love my new gig, much more than I did my Marine unit. As of right now, I believe HM is overmanned, or right at manning. A guy in my unit is former army 11b and he got weather/oceanography (AG). If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Also, look up USUHS epecially about the RN programs they have, and also I'd very strongly suggest looking at an interservice PA program I'd read about I think in TX prob at ft Sam Houston though maybe also at Brooks AFB if you can. Look also at the USPHS Jr and SR COSTEP, the USPHS functional equiv of ROTC. If you want bioengineering at all, I'd seen that USPHS will I think take a Bach in that, though that of course depends on what your Assoc major was in, and if you'd want to that way. Look also at http://www.excelsior.edu which used to be part of NY state govt and privatized a few uyrs ago I got a 2nd Bach math from them using GRE subject tests not the genl test. Excelsior is VERY svc friendly long rapport with svcs and has extnsv RN program could be very very useful to you up through MSN and I think NP as well. If you want more I might suggest more however I don't want to overwhelm you of course , just say if you'd like like to chat, I'd of course be most willing hope was of use many thanks.

www.excelsior.edu

Excelsior College, an online college with degree programs, courses and exams in Business, Technology, Nursing, Liberal Arts, Health Sciences and Public Service.

Response by Capt Daniel Goodman made May 25 at 2016 2:31 AM 2016-05-25T02:31:08-04:00 2016-05-25T02:31:08-04:00 Capt Daniel Goodman 1558710

Also, look at the maritime colleges and the uscg margrad program, the NOAA commissioned corps, and a new nearly free Assoc Bach prog with am new MBA not that you want it only suggesting http://www.uopeople.edu you might find it of interest if as I'd read they might add more majors right now they're only comp sci and bus admin still it just got accred by DETC and is aprntly nearly free nonprofit, hope also of use, many thanks.

UoPeople - The world's first tuition-free online university

Welcome to the world’s first non-profit, tuition-free, accredited, online, American university. The Reserve demands change (almost daily), if you don't get a solid answer feel free to message me directly and I will put you in contact with one of the best.
