Being forthright in this meeting is the major objective for the couple. Sit down in a quiet and unbusy environment. Set the ground rules and boundaries for this exercise. It is important couples act in rational, non-accusatory, non-caustic manner. Be matter of fact. Put all the cards on the table but watch the tempers.
It is a great venue for the husband and wife to discuss how one feels about each other. Establish mutual goals. Do not fail to emphasize love is still a binding emotion. Formulate a way ahead for the marriage. Focus on short-term and long-term goals. It is also vital to discuss the treatment plan to create a common picture and establish an all-important road map.

The alternative of not conducting the “Meeting of the Minds” often results in extreme marital friction and unhappiness. Young couples face a significantly greater risk of divorce. I watched with great sympathy marriages unraveling quickly. Sadly there is much to lose. The wife loses a husband. The children lose their father. The husband loses the wife, the children, and the career. We want to avoid this. It does not need to happen like this.
