Hello All, I am going to try to be as descriptive and brief as possible. When me and my wife first arrived to our first duty station everything was great. After a couple months I started to see the financial issues with my pay. I was paying for 2 vehicles ; 2 insurances , internet, phone plan, 2 credit cards. I then had asked my wife to help out because more than half of the current debt was premarital and it was hers. She said she didn’t feel comfortable working here. For months we argued on and off about her working and helping because we are both responsible for our bills. I can afford everything however I have little to save and little to use for gas and food. Around the 4th month she got pregnant and got pretty sick. After she started feeling better I brought up the working situation again because I know plenty of pregnant women who have worked. She again stated she does not feel comfortable. So I sent her back to California and told her well if I send you back will you work and feel more comfortable and she agreed. For 5 months she has stayed she hasn’t been able to work or find work. Now she is about to have the baby so she can literally not work. We argued and argued and ultimately I said ok well if you aren’t going to do your part maybe this isn’t what you are ready for. Now I have received threats about not being able to see my son and my family not being able to spend time with him even tho they are literally neighbors. She has also stated that because we are married I am responsible for her bills. If I do not want to pay her bills then file for divorce. I’ve brought this to my chains attention and have been told the dumbest things. I went to legal and they said to get a civilian lawyer, I went to brigade legal and they said they cannot provide legal advice. All the did was refer me to some Army Regulation that states I must give my spouse a certain amount of money. I
Never stopped proving financial support for her but due to the circumstances I’m being used for money. I went to retention to see if they could send up A conditional release but both battalion and brigade have advised me to “fail my pt test” to get out. Are you kidding me ? Two whole E7 NCOs told me this and it was the dumbest thing, so I wrote a personal statement mentioning this and I never heard back from it. I’m suffering from this , I can barely survive with the bills and nothing can be done for me and idk what else to do anymore. I understand divorce is not an important subject but I love my son already and I cannot let her influence him with her family. Idk what to do, I’m trying to do things the right way but idk what else to do anymore.
