- Can Jane Fonda speak at UCLA commencement? Yes.
- Should Jane Fonda speak at UCLA commencement? Depends upon what chair a person is sitting in.
- UCLA students. Yes since they obviously extended an invitation to her to speak.
- Vietnam Veterans. Absolutely not because of her actions (not just words) in North Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
- Should Jane Fonda be silenced (shouted down/out) while speaking at UCLA commencement? No. Silencing an opposing viewpoint is wrong. Opposing a different viewpoint is authorized and encouraged. I recommend that people educate and inform a younger generation on exactly what Jane Fonda did and its direct and negative impacts upon not only military members fighting the Vietnam War but the POWs who were held by North Vietnam. The truth (her actions) should be seen in the light of day for what they were and are.

We all have the right to Freedom of Speech. Although I completely disagree with her, let her speak. I would hope the generation of people who know who she is, educates those that wish to be educated in places she is allowed to speak; i. e., boycott those schools that give her a venue to voice her anti-American rhetoric or organize student walk-outs.

Why is that touchy? She should've been tried as a traitor years ago. So NO, she shouldn't be at a commencement. Guantanamo would be a good spot, if it was decided to let her keep wasting oxygen.

Truthfully, I don't think it makes much difference whether or not Hanoi Jane speaks at an college commencement. By the time students are completing their "tours of duty" in those institutions where indoctrination has supplanted education, they are either too far gone to be helped or thoroughly inured to any rhetoric from the left.

I don't think she should be speaking any where personally, including the privacy of her own home, but if she's gonna talk any where, a hot bed of stupidity, anti-semitism and general shittiness like the UCs ain't a bad one. She's amongst her own kind.

Sgt Private RallyPoint Member, I agree with MAJ Carl Ballinger's assessment of Jane Fonda, so I'll speak no more of her but to say, let her speak. I have long held the University of California at Los Angeles in high esteem. I no longer feel that way.

Oliver North is a TV host and that doesn't seem to piss anyone off. But Ive seen chain emails like this going around for years. From she's speaking at this place to she's nominated for woman of the year. It's all BS...if you repeat a lie enough times it becomes a truth. Please read the following and check the sources.
"Although Fonda's actions in visiting North Vietnam were sufficient to earn her the wrath of many Americans, in the years since those events took place they have been embellished to the point that the one tale most commonly associated with her Vietnam trip is an incident that never took place: a tale about U.S. POWs who furtively slipped messages to Fonda while she was meeting with them and whom Fonda promptly betrayed by turning those messages over to the POWs' North Vietnamese captors (resulting in several of those prisoners' being beaten, tortured, or killed). The fact is that while in North Vietnam, Fonda met with only a single group of seven U.S POWs: all seven of those POWs agreed to meet with her, no POWs were tortured for declining to meet with her (or for behaving inappropiately during the meeting), and no POWs secretly slipped Fonda messages which she turned over to the North Vietnamese. The persons named in inflammatory claims about this apocryphal incident have repeatedly and categorically denied the events they supposedly were part of."

Yes, she can speak anywhere she wishes to, that is what we fought for! That being said I choose not to listen to anything she has to say. I have not seen any of her films and have no desire to. She sat on that anti aircraft gun and I have never forgiven her for it. The Lord said that to forgive is divine but I just can't do it. She should have been arrested as soon as she set foot on US soil again and tried for treason.
