It's that he ran.

Cowards run.

What he did was Illegal. Absolutely illegal. There is no doubt about that. But illegal doesn't necessarily mean wrong. I'm willing to listen to the right v. wrong arguments of disseminating the information a la corrupt government. But when he ran, he closed that door.

Compare him to Manning. Manning didn't run. Manning stood trial. Manning was not a coward. Say whatever you will about manning and the crimes he committed, he didn't run. He stood before the man, and accepted his punishment.

Snowden didn't. Snowden not only said he didn't trust the American government, but the American Justice system, but also the American People to get this right if he stood trial. Screw him. It would be a political circus that would have unpredictable result so I don't expect anything anytime soon. Oh, the grist for the mill! Comparing him to Hillary would be an obvious one. Trump telling him to build his own cell would be an example of what we'd see on late night TV.
