SSG Johnny Garcia - Based on the information provided you'll have to apply for a direct commission as a 70B. The 70A AOC requires a Master's in Health Admin and 2-3 years of experience in that field.

1LT (Join to see) - SSG Garcia, once you come in as a 70B and keep in mind that would be on the reserve side. It is very rarely we have active duty positions for 70Bs through typical AMEDD Recruiters. They tried it for two years and realized it was a big disaster. So, OCS is an option but you have to finish Top in Class to get your choice. Now if you went OCS that would be applying through traditional recruiters not AMEDD. If Reserve is what you want, you can perform 70F positions as a 70B(to include active duty). On active duty, between 6-8 years after commissioning, you apply for an AOC through a board. It is best to have command complete or be in command at the time of the board meeting for best chance to be selected. If you are not selected for your AOC of choice by the 8th year, AMEDD will assign you an AOC. Could be 70B still, or anything within the 70 Series admin realm.
Hope that helps.

Need more detail than that. What’s your Bachelors and Masters in? What do you feel you are qualified to do in the AMEDD? Have you researched all the AOCs? Are you specifically taking about applying for a commission?

Bachelors in kinesiology and a masters in educational leadership. My past xperience besides the military has been in management and education. I was looking at a 70f or a 70e. I have been out for 5 years.

SSG Johnny Garcia your BS would make you eligible to apply for the Army’s PT Baylor program (depending on how old your degree is). As for the 70F and E, those are not AOCs you can go directly into. All 70 series start off as 70B, then between 6-8 years of commissioned service you go through an AOC designation board (mid-career CPT). Of additional note, OCS doesn’t offer MSC as a branch anymore. Only ROTC, West Point and Direct Commission (limited Direct Commissions) can be branched Medical Service Corps. The Masters, while nice, doesn’t correlate to any AOC. For an example, an MBA for Logistics, an MS in Human Resources for 70F, an MS in IT for 70D, and MBA in Accounting and Finance for 70C, etc. just some things to think about. Good luck.

70B is a great starting point in Health Services. It allows you to explore the different AOCs while you are an LT and Junior CPT. Then the board asks you your preference. Good luck.

SSG Johnny Garcia - So you are looking at your current age, but what you have to consider is your true age. That is defined by your age, how many years of service already towards 20, and how many left to retirement at 20....rough estimate is you are really about 34 in true age, meaning you could potentially serve the additional 18 to 60 years of age or just 12 more to retirement at 20.
