When a HHC Commander is outranked by the Soldier they are calling up in formation to present an award or recognition who salutes who?

It should be the Officer salutes the HHC Commander. I am going off what I know and not of a particular regulation.

The HHC commander salutes the LTC, first. The LTC returns the salute. Testing our knowledge, eh, LTC (Join to see)? Good one, Sir. Keep us on our toes. *laughs nervously*

CMSgt James Nolan, I didn't either, 1SG. In my experience, whomever is in charge of the company renders the salute to the person, regardless of rank, who they solicited. Open to correction, though.

SGT (Join to see) Erin you are correct. Whoever is being called up, they are the ones that return the salute.

It should be the person reporting who presents the salute and the Commander returns it regardless of rank.

I had it backwards, then, Sir. Thank you for the clarification, CPT (Join to see).

The officer salutes the Commander as they are reporting, regardless of rank.
