I'm sure this will come out at some point during primaries. On its own it does very little but packaged with more data points it could be used to very effectively paint a picture of . . . destructive carelessness or some other political aim. And if she wins the primaries it'll come back again during the main event.

I'll be looking forward to it. It's the closest career politicians at the highest levels get to being held accountable for their actions.

I heard on the radio that Secretary Kerry is the first Secretary of State who uses primarily government e-mail. Apparently using private e-mail in that job is routine. Here's a quote from an article on the topic:

"Nick Merrill, Clinton's spokesman, told CNN on Tuesday morning that, 'like Secretaries of State before her, she used her own email account when engaging with any Department officials.'"

Apparently it's a non-story.

The thing about sensationalist titles is...the content is often later found to be not-so-sensational.

If true, sounds like a case of poorly enforced security policy (in the government - shocker, I know). It's a bit unnerving that it took the State Department until 2013 to figure out such a basic security practice.

When we report for duty, whether Active Duty or Civilian, there is always a checklist and setting up your email account is definitely a major part of that. Was it an issue of being able to say "no, I don't want one" and no one enforced the requirement? There shouldn't be any exception to proper, secure email communication for Government employees - regardless of party lines.

From what I understand, her e-mail account that she used was HACKED by a Russian who does hacking all of the time and has some weird pseudonym that he goes by. So let's see what develops then decide but even in the army we were told to use our AKO e-mail for official business.

If the govt gives you an e mail account, with all the safeguards and security precautions I think you would be wise to use it. If any of us used a personal e mail and the information ended up somewhere it wasn't suppose to, would there be any question?

My first question as an IT guy is "was the server cleared for top secret information?" If not, she should be nailed like anybody else for having classified material on an unclassified machine. It gives the appearance of arrogance & poor judgement; and as someone else stated, careless and reckless. It could certainly be a major breach of security, and lends itself greatly to risk of leaks or being hacked. Exercising such poor judgement, & being a security risk, would be cause for most people in a position of such high responsibility, to potentially cost them their career. Someone in a position of authority, is supposed to lead by example, not consider themselves exempt or above the law. It's particularly worrisome when it's someone Cabinet level in our government.

When you've lived and worked in the executive branch of the state & federal government for decades, you definitely develop ways to control the information flow. Her problem is that she doesn't want to answer the question everyone is begging to know, did you use the email to share classified information? Seeing how quiet she is you can almost count on it

Who cares what email she used! They are still there. She says she never used her government computer, so what! I can get 75 phones and still have the same email, her emails on stored on a hard drive, on some server. Not on only one computer.

Jeb Bush, Colin Powell, George Bush 41 and Bush 43 both and it has not been the more than common practice, it has been a practice that is just like all the other electronics issues that are very slowly establishing effectiveness in the guidelines for all these other things that have never been an issue as they were never available for others in the past.
I do not honestly think that anybody can make it to the level they have without some skeletons in the closet. If not for the willingness for all to play the hate and manipulate game, these things that used to be "Behind closed doors" now are being used as a weapon against one another. Then people want to know why they all look for ways to cover their backsides even before they ever make a mistake.
Seems like a terrible way to do things but if one thinks about this, when the gay community was in hiding just to protect their own career, not doing anything wrong, just were not allowed to be in the open, then there were lies, hiding, distortions and even witch hunts.
Now with the amount of actual truth that hits the general public, then the amount of hate games played by those that just like to do that sort of thing to result in this sort of thing, it can really be no surprise to any logical thinking person.
That does not say these things are right or wrong, legal or illegal, simply saying, it should be no surprise and also no surprise that Cheney had his own war room built in Wyoming so he could have meetings on his own property long before he was the vp.. just saying....

Wow, this really brings out the trolls and those that have not even taken the time to do any research for themselves. Guess the Canadian press does not do things like fact check the dates of regulations for our state department. But, then some get any resource they can, be it wrong or just plain made up. This one hits both.
If people want to tell lies and distort the truth, at least be brave enough to say, that is what you are doing, do not discredit this information and our government by making up facts. We have enough in congress that do that already.

I think it was smart and deliberate. The man she works for over saw accusations againt her husband Bill accusing him of being a racist. Her boss didn't trust her and therefore she didn't trust him. Though I disagree with the act, I understand the intent. She didn't want to be scapegoated for a weak foriegn policy she campaigned against. I do not agree with Hillary most of the time including here but I understand her motivation. Remember when she confronted Putin about invading other countries and the White House told Russia to ignore her.

I think this put the President in a bad place. Wonder how he will wriggle out. If he investigates her he could kill her 2016 hopes. If he doesn't it will appear that he is covering up for her which could still kill her hopes at 2016 plus hurt his already less than great time in office

She has so many laws she has broken but never been held accountable - she created a huge issue in North Africa, she and her husband traipsed around the world collecting over $! Billion in donations for their charity - and the public still wants her as President? God help us all.
