Hardly anyone mentions the opportunity cost the spouses face in regard of employment because they often put their careers on the back burner.

That is everyday for me. Between Basic, AIT and my deployment, I was home 30 days in 2 years. My wife raised our 2 boys for 2 years by herself and kept the fires burning at home. Scott was 2 years old and Kevin was 3 months old when I left. She did a great job and has stuck with me for an additional 49 years

Military Spouse Appreciation Day is an annual event held on the Friday before Mother's Day to recognize and honor the important role of military spouses. This day was established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan and is celebrated by all branches of the military. This day is an opportunity to thank military spouses for their service and sacrifice, as they often face unique challenges while their loved ones are away serving in the military. Military spouses are often the ones who provide emotional support, manage family finances, and take on many other responsibilities while their partner is away.
