Hi!
My (soon to be) husband is in the Army Reserves. His contract is up in less than a year and he is planning to reenlist as active duty with a dream of going to Warrant Officer Flight School.
He is in the works of talking to people and figuring out what he needs to get done in regards to requirements, the packet, ect.
If this all works out in the long run and he gets selected. How does this all work... I know he will go to Fort Rucker, Alabama for school. Do I go with him? Or does he go alone? Sorry for my ignorance, just trying to figure out the logistics of everything! It would be great to talk to a SO who has gone through this all.

Don't be too worried now. You are conducting the deep fight now when the close fight is for him to successfully be accepted to flight school.

Been There! Done that! First he needs to have a good 201 file. He needs to demonstrate he is a good candidate for the program and that he can put up with the intense pressure of flight school. They will weed out the weak! He will have to pass an aptitude test and a flight orientation ride. Also you will have to follow him to AL and TX, but may only see him on a weekend pass. It isn't easy. A bad day there can end you up with a check ride to see if you are worth saving! I went from enlisted to Warrant Officer to a Direct Commision as LT. You have to keep that positive attitude always.

Jessica,
So long as you’re married by the time your soldier has his orders to attend WOFT; you’ll be able to go with him. Flight is roughly a year long between the Warrant Officer Candidate School and Flight. Once he’s close to finishing his flight school he’d get orders cut for his first location on whichever airframe he’s chosen. I hope that helps!

Thank you so much. Again, excuse my ignorance, but WOCS and flight school and two different things, correct? so would he go to WOCS without me, and then Flight school with me? Thank you for your help!

Nope, you’d still go with him. It’s considered a change of station due to the length of the overall course. They are two different courses though yes. The whole learning to fly piece is his Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC) where he learns basics in aeronautics followed later by what helicopter he’d be piloting. Only thing that’s different is he’d have to stay with the rest of the candidates during WOCS then be able to return home at night to you during the WOBC.
