Still trying to wrap my Brain around that my Jr Officer is now a Senior Civilian Professor at the War College for Electronic and Information Warfare and his Roomate the COMO (Communications Officer) is a Capt (O-6) in the Reserves (I still call him Mr German) and is my Neighbor at the end of the street.

A 2LT and a 1SG wrecked their cars into each other at an intersection on Ft. Bragg. The First Sergeant, noticing the LT’s nervousness, said “Here, Sir, take yourself a shot, it’ll help.”. The Lieutenant did so, and said “Thanks, Top, I needed that” as the 1SG put the flask away. He then asked “Hey Top, aren’t you going to take a drink? The First Sergeant replied “You bet, Sir, right after the MP’s leave!

Any time you approach a senior officer, you render him/her a salute. Even a 2nd Lt to a 1st Lt. Seniority is always rendered a salute. If you do not, you could be in real trouble. It is always better to salute and be wrong, than not to salute and be wrong, isn't it? It does save an a-s chewing too.

If you expect career enlisted men to salute you because you outrank them even if they have been promoted 8 times and you've maybe been promoted once,but you went to college, quit whining about who you have to salute.i f All officers were required to serve a 2year enlistment prior to OCS,they would have a far better understanding of what a salute means
