I should also say, i do not have an airborne contract. Is it difficult to be selected for training? I&#39;ve heard of the new RMIB which is for Military intelligence including signals in the 75th. Basically i just want to avoid a desk job and actually do something in the field with my training but at the same time have a job that will help me get a very good civilian job if that makes sense. Also for any current 35S people, whats your job like? Thanks! How can a 35S be more field oriented/Active? 2019-03-13T12:14:09-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 4445256 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I&#39;m a future 35S(I ship in 3 months) who would like to go to the 75th Ranger Regiment. That&#39;s fine if you don&#39;t plan on retiring, or if you plan on retiring as a staff sergeant. Or, if you do not plan on using you&#39;re MOS after the military. You&#39;re MOS as a strategic and tactical side and to be a valuable member of your MOS, you will need to know both sides.<br />You can contact the ranger recruiter at 75 recruit at [login to see] your recruiter who recruited you into the army will not be able to help you with this.<br />If you find that you don&#39;t want to sit behind a desk, you can always switch to Infantry after you earn your Ranger tab Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 13 at 2019 12:29 PM 2019-03-13T12:29:21-04:00 2019-03-13T12:29:21-04:00 CPL Private RallyPoint Member 4445713 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>That&#39;s a long way away. Ask your branch manager to be assigned to an SF group, reach out to JSOC, USAPAB, and Great Skills. Those will keep you tactical/operational while giving very advanced training and looking amazing on your record. Your best chance for tactical collection experience is to go airborne and get assigned to an SF Group. You will most likely have to re-enlist for airborne when your window opens up. Your first assignment will be a strategic assignment. This is traditionally a strategic career field. Group assignments are limited. So if you have it as an option when you re-enlist, jump on it. That’s what I did. When I was at Division the M.I. unit was a battalion-sized element (Companies A, B, C, D, and E), 313th MI BN (the current structure has changed). I deployed with an infantry brigade to Afghanistan, while there I reenlisted to Bad Aibling Station (Germany), which was not tactical. Overall I enjoyed the camaraderie of the tactical unit, the strategic site was nice, I had a lot of freedom. Having experience in both types of units make a more well rounded soldier. I have never heard of anyone in intel switch to infantry or SF, I was on active duty for 5 years. SF support is the closest anyone I knew at Bragg went. Most of my a.i.t. friends went to Ft. Meade. My advice is to make the best out of every assignment. Response by SGT Martin Mundo made Apr 11 at 2019 12:54 AM 2019-04-11T00:54:55-04:00 2019-04-11T00:54:55-04:00 2019-03-13T12:14:09-04:00
