How can a NG 68W volunteer for either an active or NG tour overseas?

I'm assigned to an Armored Cav unit, but it's not slotted to deploy soon, and I want some experience if possible. Thanks

Check out this post from the past. Also, many states have "short lists" for volunteers (usually to augment other Units from those states).

13F looking for a deployment opportunity. My unit is going to JRTC this summer but we have no deployment as of yet. Haven't been able to find much solid information about this process from asking around. Thanks guys.

I am leaving on a tour in September and I volunteered for it, all I did was contact my readiness NCO and got on a list then just kinda had to wait for something to come up. I am a 68w.

On the 68W site (the MODS page, I cannot remember the exact link), there is a link where you can volunteer for assignment. If you have been on station for over a year, you can look in the Assignment Satisfaction Key for an open requisition. That's how I got my 2nd deployment.

Get as much experience as you can from the the vets in your unit first. Then your readiness nco should have the information your looking for, if not talk to your chain of command. Make sure your PT is top notch.
