How can a prior-service Marine go active Navy (with a 5.5 year break in service)?

Step 1: Go talk to a recruiter.
I was a prior service Marine that joined the Army after a 2 year break in service. Went to a recruiter and they did the rest.

You go talk to a Recruiter.

Depending on your rank and time in service, Reserves may be all that's open. We all have business rules that we follow.

Your best chance is going army national guard then try to get an AGR trainer position because your skills As a Marine are appreciated in the combat arms oriented guard

It would be a lot easier if you go reserve first and then active, I had 8 years break in service and Im on the reserve right now waiting for a billet to be open as a Master Arms!
