How can I better my chances of getting deployed?

Without getting into OPSEC, I am having a very hard time finding a deployment. I have used TWO Databases to see what is available, and it's not much. I would literally do anything to deploy. What can increase my chances at getting to deploy? Any advice helps.

Being national guard may be a little difficult, but make sure your chain of command has you down on their volunteer lists. Depending on the battle rhythm, there may be units needing your MOS. I would recommend considering a transfer to the USAR or active component as well.

You have to get information for the HQ Department of the Army list for WIAS taksers (this may not be that helpful since you are a SPC) or whomever the POC is for National Guard mobilizations. There should be an office/section at your Guard State HQ who handles those tasks- maybe in the J5/or G5 Plans area. They may have insight on upcoming units deploying. Ask around.... there are still missions going, just fewer and farther between now.

You'll probably have to transfer to that unit to deploy or do an Interstate transfer- we had a CPT from Arizona mobilize with our unit in 2009-2010 to Egypt. He went back to AZ when the mob was done.

Guard? Move to CA and await the next forest fire, they always need bodies rather than MOSs.

I’m active duty but I had the same time. Got married and had a baby on the way and all the sudden I was signed up for a couple years worth of deployments. Might not work for everyone but it worked for me haha

I started in the IL guard and other than special units, deployments aren't going to happen. Even though I still live in Chicago area, I ended up in the PA guard and got a deployment by accident. It's all about how much funding a state has. The experience of their units is a big point. My current unit has deployed about 5-6 times since 2000, and has asked for volunteers another 2-3 times. I liked the 33rd while I was there but they don't get missions

Luck of, or in my case unluck of the draw. National Guard for 7 years, 2nd deployment in 4 years (and a mobilization in between).
