How can I change my religion on my ERB? Is there a list of approved religions (in regulation)?

Go to personnel and tell them you want to make changes to your ERB on any item that has to do with your religion.

You can claim any religion you want, but be prepared for a lot of questions if you claim unusual needs or exemptions based on that religion.

"But sir, I am an XYZ and we can only work on calendar days divisible by 7."

Depending on what you would want to claim as a religious status. Let them know if there is any special days that are claimed as holy days.

There are 221 religions recognized by DOD. Take a look at this list, and if your religion is not listed, I would talk to a chaplain. They are supposed to provide or arrange support for service members of all faiths.

You need to see your PAC clerk who might be able to do it themselves if they have the ability or S1 above can do it for sure.

I suggest you look up the regs, then change your ERB- I know that about anything can go on your dog tags, not sure in the ERB anymore.

ERB and Dog Tags are different as SGM Bill Frazer mentioned. You can put virtually anything on your dog tags, but your ERB has to follow one of the codes provided by Capt Gregory Prickett. That said, you can speak with your Chaplain if you feel that your religious preference is not included in the list and he or she will be able to give you further guidance. Best of luck!

Whatever religion you are comfortable with, it is your religion. The government cannot make you choose one. Whatever you want to put in the ERB and that’s the end of it.
