How can I drop Airborne School from my initial contract?

"Airborne", is all voluntary.

When I went to Airborne school, they asked you, morning, afternoon and evening everyday, if you want to quit Jump School. If you said YES, you would be out the next day.

Don't know about if you have a contract, in my days, it's was about your "Word", and that meant something in those days.

Don't Volunteer. You have to volunteer for jump school. It may be scary to actually do that for some people. But it is literally that easy.

But, I will tell you this...... if you do decide not to at least try. I am sure you will regret it later in life.

1. Why? 2. It's 3 weeks-normally what the deal?. 3- It's voluntary- you have to show up, but you can refuse to volunteer on day 1. 4. You more than likely will regret it down the road. because of what it will appear as. 5. Why in the hell did you ask for it and now want to waste a school slot?

i wanted to drop my airborne contract too but i didn't i just wanted to be done with ft Benning and but finished and i am happy that i did not drop the course its not hard and if you drop it it will not be easy to get it in your unit , but if you decide that, that is what you want talk to your leader,

Don't do it. It's good training and later down the road you'll find the slots don't come easy.

I had it in my contract when I enlisted all of those many years ago. I picked my job based on whether I could get it or not, and I had the scores to do anything. Great decision. It opened up many doors for other schools as well. Think long and hard about dropping that one. You follow on duty assignment will still be there.

I wouldn't drop it if I were you. A long time ago, back in 1993 I almost made the decision to get it off my initial contract. God, I'm glad I didn't do it and went through it just fine. Yes, I did stumble a little bit, but it was a great experience to say the least, and learned that sometimes you have to take that "step" into the unknown to get where you need to in life. I don't know your reasons and don't want to know, that's your business. But if you are doing it for the wrong reasons, I would reconsider and just go with it. Yes, it is voluntary, but you're going to be wasting a slot for someone else.

If you want to make the Army a career, dropping airborne would be a mistake. It will open up so many more great assignments for you.
When I was in Germany I had a soldier that quit airborne school on the first day and it also got his special forces group support orders deleted and reassigned. He expressed his regret for doing that.

You should be able to get it removed through your recruiter, but be aware that some assignments do require that you are airborne qualified and you may lose your current job offering, it is better to do this through the recruiter as you will get a new job that you have input in, whereas if you do this at Jump school your new assignment options may be limited

Airborne school is filled with two vital things. First, students willing to listen, learn, and follow instructions. Second, a world class cadre of professionals committed to your success and safety. Most of the school is focused on developing muscle memory which ensures safety. I spent 21 years begging for Airborne school and finally graduated 20 years from the day I reported to Basic Training. It opens up doors for assignments and will boost your confidence as a Soldier after you’ve defeated one more self-imposed limitation.

I'll put it this way all you have to say is I quit I'm not doing it and you will NEVER get any Spec Ops training again. but if that is not your deal then get out of it. Airborne and above are for lifetime and a very small brotherhood. And Sisterhood, when I was at Ft. Bragg in Special Forces we were experimenting with integrating Females but that is a very select few and like .001 percent of the nation and yes that is a . in front of the 001

You can ship to basic with it, just notify your DS you want to drop it and they'll work up the paper work and bring you in to sign it.
