How can I ensure that I get assigned to Alaska on my first contract as an 11B?

What is the probability of getting into Alaska (4th IBCT, 25th ID) if I sign 11B(op. 4)?

There are five Airborne Infantry Brigades in the Army. Three at Bragg, one in Italy, one in Alaska. The mathematical probability is 1/5

I always found the probably of getting anything out of the Army is: "Needs of the Army". (Remember that phrase)

In any case, good luck! I didn't get airborne in my contract, and was never able to get a slot while I was in, so make sure you enjoy it and get the most out of it.

There is a brand new option that just opened up that guarantees you to get Alaska after your training. Ask your recruiter about this ASAP. I believe its option 20.

Highly unlikely you will ever get what you want, or a choice of anything. If it isn't in writing and signed it means nothing...zero. O and you better have your own copy in triplicate, because the Army will lose the paperwork in Abyss called "S-1", even then it's questionable. If you fail a required task evaluation for record your guarantee don't mean anything, its gone. Your first task is to pass everything, don't quit no matter what, suck it up, a first enlistment soldier has few if any choices about anything. If lucky and you make it you could end up as terminal Opfor at Fort Polk in "Geranimo". If you re-enlist, and fail to read the fine print, the Army will slap you in the face again. Stupid hurts

Have "high hopes and very low expectations", the Army is a self serving mistress that only cares about herself. You are a tool for her to play with, and she is typically very unkind, unfair and will cheat on you. But you get to hang out with her and be part of her club, she'll stomp on your heart and dreams. You'll learn to like the abuse, you'll be around close friends who like you are abused, she's slapped them around as well, but they will console you.

If you're lucky, you do your job very well and excel at all tasks, you may one day far in the future get something you want.

Be postive, enjoy and smile...it will get worse

The Army will always give you the opposite of what you want. Ask branch for Hawaii and you will end up in Alaska.
