How can I get my CAB switched to a CIB?

You can't. You were awarded the award you met the requirements for. Being Infantry in a firefight doesn't automatically meet all the requirements of a CIB.

Sorry brother, but you were not with an Infantry unit doing Infantry stuff, just because you came under fire and your an 11B does not mean you qualify for CIB. We had some Infantry guys from both Marines and Army on JTF, but the JTF mission was not direct action, even though we were in some cases in a more dangerous spot. We gave them all CAB's and Marines could convert to a CAR, but11B types could not.

As the rest all ready said, it can’t happen. You must hold the 11 series MOS at the time the award was earned. Just beating the dead horse some more.

You can’t, if your Infantry platoon is attached to a non infantry company or command than it gets tricky but if your not an Infantryman and re classes to 11B but had a CAB you definitely won’t get it. I’m thinking there is more to this than what is posted.

The same way our non-11B soldiers filled in 11B slots during firefights. They didn't and got CABs instead.

The CAB was created for the purpose of giving non-Infantry MOS's that were in combat situations the recognition of service related to combat. Also please refer to AR 600-8-22, Military Awards, Chapter 8 for more detail information about this award.

Your post is so vague that there is no possible way I could give you any advice at all. We don't get to pick and choose our awards, or trade up. I would suggest you research what the criteria is for being awarded a CIB. Just because you met the criteria for the CAB does not automatically qualify you for a CIB. You will need to provide a lot more information if you want to get any advice. What makes you believe that you were awarded the wrong award?

Get slapped first.
Then understand there are no transferrable awards. You received it in a certain associated Non Combat Arms "status" or you received it in Combat Arms status. No comingling crap.
