How can I get my last unit to send me my PCS award that they never gave/sent me?

Last unit won't return my emails or messages in regards to my PCS award that I never received before leaving. I've contacted my previous PSG and 1SG, both of which seem to be ignoring me completely. It's been 7 months since it was submitted, and the last I heard from them, it was repeatedly sent back for revisions, more than 4 times. What can I do, if anything, to tactfully nudge them in the direction of helping me out?

Hell, contact your old Battalion S1 and see if they can hook you up.

Not trying to be a smart ass but are you sure that they plan to give you one? Could be that someone in your old chain of command decided that you didn't deserve an award.

You're one of many who's been failed by the current (shitty) awards system.

You don't have any reliable POCs back at that unit? If not, maybe try and get someone in your current COC to contact them.

If those two things don't work, drive on. You'll get more awards, and more disappointment.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I was at one command where they didn't even know I had orders even though I informed them in the whole process. I was a lowly E3 at the time and one of many. I didn't get so much as a card. I left and no one cared. It soured my first year in the Navy.

I went on and got more recognition later in my career and grew to actually like being in the Navy.

Some commands are better at supporting the troops than others. Never take it personal.

You may have to do some legwork yourself. I found a DOA memo on Facebook for a unit award I qualified for posted by someone in my old unit. I gave a copy to my new unit and they gave me the medal and ceremony. It is always nice to have at least 1 friend in the S1 shop, usually a lower enlisted or of similar rank to do some light legwork for you when you need a favor.

If I am correct, Fort Riley post clearing papers have a signature spot for PCS awards. You never should’ve left without receiving one.

From what I'm reading, you've been at your current unit for seven months and still stressing about a PCS award. It sucks not to have gotten it on the way out; "out of site, out of mind." I wouldn't worry about it anymore...it just shows how much they really took care of their soldiers. Keep moving forward.

Where did you PCS from? My last two duty stations wouldn’t even do my final out unless I had an OER and award in hand. I thought this was SOP now.
