Due to your rank, and heck even at mine these days, it is about MOS and the supply and demand system. it is nothing personal, but the Army needs to have you serve where they need you. Me too! You can try to contact your branch NCO, but they may just tell you something very similar to what I have just stated. Good Luck, hope it helps. Response by CW5 Sam R. Do you think you are really up to the challenge of making it in this unit, this elite unit? Response by CSM Michael J. TRADOC has always had that stigma of, if you wanted in, you couldn't get it, and if you wanted out, and were successful getting out, you want back in. Career progression...LEARN everything you can at the school house, even if you are in a support unit, You will get to learn a lot. And when the time comes for those great assignments, you could find yourself heads above your collueges in your MOS, Skill Level, and training. Generally you just can't ask for a specific assignment, that is simply not how it works. However you can ask to go to any school as long as it has some direct application to your MOS. Air Assault school will most likely start leading you the correct direction. Staying vigilant and attempting to get assigned to most any AHB also moves you toward your goal. As well if you ever get attached to an AHB, they most likely will never assign you out of AH unit. I would add, don't be in a hurry. The way things look, we are going to be deploying for a long time to come. TRADOC offers some opportunities just as well. It may seem like a long road taking the TRADOC direction but the experience will be invaluable. The more trained you are the more valuable you become and with that comes rank, seniority, and respect. I think you should tackle the TRADOC challenge and use it as a spring board for other opportunities. But if your dead set, there is one more way. It's a hard road, and you got to want it bad. Even then, it may not be enough to get in, there are so many variables involved I can't start to list them out. 160th SOAR is always looking for hard driving soldiers that have the mental ability the drive, and physical ability to withstand the rigorous demands of the Regiment, I believe they will allow you to fill out a packet, I not positive, I've be out for some time and things may have changed. I'm sure you can check into and find out what's involved.

I hope I helped out. Also things change over time so if anything I stated is incorrect please let me know.

Good luck!
