Your command team should be familiar with where the installations club meets and/or what units members are in. If anything go to the installations soldier support center, there should be a board or flyers advertising SAMC club info.

Get involve with the local club and attend their meetings for starters. Not mandatory but it’s a good way to show your face, let them know you are willing to dedicate your time and a good way to get a sponsor.

You need to get involved with community activity because just going to the SAMB don't mean you are going to make the first time around and you have to show your CSM you are a born leader, not just in training and leading from the front you need to know your soldiers and their families inside and out. When I went I had to have a SAMC sponsor because when I went to the board I had a letter from my CSM and my sponsor was my platoon sergeant and he was not SAMC member and they threw him out of the board and my CSM was on the board and sponsored me on the spot. Make sure your ducks are in a row. I've been a member since 1997 and people still ask me about.

Find out who the President of the club is. Start attending monthly meetings. Find out who in your brigade is a member and ask to be sponsored. This is not an easy task. This will possibly take you one year to accomplish.
