How can I hand deliver my conditional release paperwork? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-can-i-hand-deliver-my-conditional-release-paperwork

I’m currently an army reservist and I submitted my conditional release packet 4 months ago and it is currently stalling at brigade. I’ve been advised that hand delivering it can speed up the process. Does anyone have any experience doing this and can walk me through how to do this? Like how to set up an appointment and who to talk to. Like I said my packets at Brigade, but I don’t even know who has to sign it their. If their systems are slow or broken, it sucks, but there is a reson why it goes through so many channels. Just because you want to be released to go active, doesn't mean that they have to approve it. In some units the conditional realese authority resides at the brigade level, others at the division. Just continue to ask for it every three days or so. If the unit has paid for you to go to training it's going to be hard to justify releasing you so soon. Better yet, who's advising you to "hand carry" the packet? Have you engaged your Platoon and Company Leadership over this? What about your Battalion S1? There's no reason a PV2 should have to go directly engage the Brigade Staff. I did a conditional release from the USAR as a PFC and it was done in under a month. I was in a HHC though, so my senior leadership was relatively accessible.

If it is at your Brigade HQ, it is most likely sitting at your Brigade S1 waiting for your Brigade Commander's signature. While you always have access to the Brigade Commander through the Open Door Policy, I would advise against attempting to meet with him/her over this subject. I understand your frustration, but you probably wouldn't get the results you're wanting. Your first General in your COC is the has the authority to release a soldier on the DD 368. Just keep asking your COC the status of it. Your Battalion S-1 has a system I forgot the name where they can look and see where it is and what is holding it up. Hopefully you wrote a good memo stating the reason why you need to be released to go Active Duty. Hope it works out for you. The reserves are hurting in numbers right now. That's not saying that they wont approve it but should have a good reason for them to switch you to active duty. My circumstance was very different. Why do you want to go active duty? Failure to turn in equipment and clear hand receipts will prevent them from signing the 4187/4651.. the higher GQs S1/G1 should be able to assist. That will allow you to find out where higher HQs is and make arrangements to secure signed copy of your packet.
