Sir, if you have time to and have interest in learning more Signal/Information Technology things, go the the Signal University on camp. One of the best things available to make use of time in my opinion. Unless things have changed since ‘15-‘16 while I was there, you should also have the oppurtunity to take the exams for some of certifications available. I also recommend letting your command know that it’s available so that more people are aware of it.

How do I sign up for courses? I am very much interested in attaining as much certificates as possible. IT & signal field is absolutely one of the top interests. Was also planning to take some Microsoft classes, especially Excel. Found out very fast after college that I should have paid more attention to Excel! :)

CPT (Join to see) - If I remember correctly sir it's done through the SharePoint. There is a NCOIC of the schoolhouse that you should be able to contact when you get to Camp AJ for more information. Just a heads up, some classes are harder to sign up for than others due to demand. Again, unless things have changed, I received vouchers for exams after taking the classes and was able to get my CompTIA Security +, Network +, and ETAi Fiber Optic Installer certifications there, as well as make an attempt at some Cisco certifications. I don't recall any Microsoft classes but they may have expanded what they offer. I do remember seeing some Microsoft training on the Army Skillport site though. (https://usarmy.skillport.com/skillportfe/custom/login/usarmy/login.action) If you aren't aware of that I highly recommend that for another resource for training, as well as push that link out to your unit, it can be beneficial to many.

SGT Jaimes White - SGT White, thanks so much for your invaluable information and feedback. Will find out the POC for school house once I get there.
Seems like you got alot done while in Camp AJ, that takes dedication and commitment.
Great work!

Get out and explore the country! I also volunteered at the USO, experienced the entire country and worked with other services to get to know their folks. As for not to do, try to not be brought in to a fold where you have to challenge your morals, values and the professionalism expected of you. That kind of says a lot, but have fun.

Thanks so much for your invaluable feedback. I absolutely want to explore the country as much as possible and work with other services cross-functionally.

Sir, it largely depends on your interests. This said, while I was deployed ISO OIR, on my down time I pursued training. This carried me across multiple bases and locations throughout the country. There is a plethora of training available. Aside from this, there is volunteer work and schooling to accomplish as both have informative staff and are desirable traits in leaders as I’m sure you’re aware. Recreationally, consider joining a sports team or starting you own, here are many competitions on post. There is also the MWR which provides activities. Like I mentioned before, it depends on your interests
