So go in there and bring what you learned in the strategic world with you. SOF operates at tactical, operational, and strategic levels, so your experience will help greatly - especially if you hop on a SOT-A or go forward to the TSOC.
You will be expected to be competent in your MOS and to share it with your Soldiers, to make them better at their job. Keep them motivated as working for SOF as support is very different from conventional - you may likely see action on your intelligence. An ODA is 12 people, so good support is vital.

I love Campbell - was there twice. Air Assault is good for a pretty badge, but utilize the Group for the other schools that you can't normally get - Touchstone, Brighton, etc... You will basically have no choice but to go through airsult school. I fought with my 1sgt about it. I was on a p-3 profile. I still preformed my duties. However I didn't see any sense into damaging my body anymore then I had already done. The market is great for buying especially if you’ll be here for a while. The farther you go down I-24 towards Nashville the better. The area immediately off of Fort Campbell is not great. There is plenty of off-post housing, good amd not-so good. Right now I believe the post is on a stay-at-home order so your family will get to know post quite well. Air assault school and Pathfinder school are the best schools Fort Campbell has to offer. They have to be done in that order though, you cant go to Pathfinder school without Air Assault school. Wish you the best and if you have any questions, I still live in Clarksville. I wasn’t your skill level, so I cannot comment about the secret squirrel stuff. I lived off and on post, both have their pros and cons. I had no issues with schools on or off post. I left medically in 2013, so I’m not all sure what has changed since then. Being at a Group is different than being in a regular unit, as even the low man shoulders a hefty load. Go in humble, learn from everybody, know what you don't know, don't be scared to say you don't know something, and know you will be tested and pushed hard. But your job will be virtually nothing like a strategic assignment- if you have the time, I highly suggest working independently on your HAM licenses (if you are proficient enough, go all the way through Amateur Extra). This training will be absolutely vital to you. SFC Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 14 Apr 2020 13:56:11 -0400 2020-04-14T13:56:11-04:00 2020-03-27T00:46:20-04:00
