How can I raise my promotion points?

I am currently sitting at 420, and as 42A, points do not drop below 500... Aside from ALC which I have to wait for my redeployment to complete, are there any other ways I can get my points up? I have maxed my APFT, BMQ, and correspondence courses, and am enrolled in college courses. I just can't seem to find anything else.

Make sure your college has fully evaluated your Joint Services Transcript and an ACE credit transcript.

Cost: $40 (one free transcript to school of your choice) + $15 for any additional ones.

This one requires a bit of work. Use this for all military training (over 40 hours) that gave you a certificate, but no 1059.

You should be able to squeeze out some promotion points with these.

And, if you've already did both of these, you have my condolences; for, alas, only time and more military training can fix your situation.

How many awards do you have, does your ppw reflect your deployments?

Work on college/certifications take the DLPT if you know another language and Clep any basic classes.

I agree with SGT Shulman. College credits; get your military experience evaluated by a college and get the official transcript as soon as possible to your S-1. Continue working on your degree while moving up in the ranks. I am sure any NCO around you can tell you which college they used to have their military experience evaluated. It seems different colleges award differently based on your MOS. NCOs in your field will know which one will work best for you and hopefully that college will offer whichever degree plan you are working towards also. Good luck.

WHile at college, look into CLEP testing. This will give you full credit for a college course if you pass the test. It is a quick way to earn your degree, and get more college points for promoton without going though a semester class.

If you need awards, you could attend the NCO of the Quarter Boards or do volunteer work. Take military distance learning and get enrolled in college. Max you APFT and Weapons scores. As a 42A, you gotta really want it and get those experiences that will, not only get you promoted, but help you become a well rounded leader able to train/assist your Soldiers to do the same.

CompTIA A+ counts for civilian education points for 42A. Check your technical matrix. Training for it is easy.

http://atc.us.army.mil - You can apply for a voucher here. Coordinate with your unit's ATCTS manager (probably someone in S6/G6) to approve your request. Even if you are not in a slot authorized the voucher such as a unit IMO you can still receive a soon-to-expire voucher per the Army G6/CIO's guidance.

How many points do you in Military Ed? There are 11 JKO courses I know you can take that are worth 4 points a piece. I maxed my Military Ed doing them.

I feel your pain. When I was in, the points never dropped below 800. Until I got mine up to 750. As an E5 I had to reach 966, before I got the rocker. College courses. You have to stick with it. Make sure you have your course completions in your record. Hang in there. It can be done.

Hi, I’m back.. I was looking and see Human Resources Specialist. Would that be another label for personnel Clerk ?
Just wondering.. work on doing a master’s thesis.. if you are decreeing in that field. Just because you haven’t started on it yet, diesn’t Mean you can’t do it.. and save it for whenafter you get your bachelor’s degree..
