How do you know this MOS is not for you? Also, why did you choose it?

To answer your question, though, you are going need to speak with your unit and a recruiter. MOS has nothing to do with been a great or bad family man.
2. Regardless of the MOS, as a NG member you’ll have all the lime in the word. Is not a full time job!!!!
3. As a NG member, you are already committed to a position. Therefore it up to the command, not the recruiter, if they reclass you.

Best of luck on your future endeavors! If you can't convince them of that then you're going to AIT LTC Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 20 Jan 2020 16:01:52 -0500 2020-01-20T16:01:52-05:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 20 at 2020 5:04 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-can-i-re-class-before-ait?n=5463877&urlhash=5463877

You can't reclass before AIT, you have to have an MOS to reclass.
First, you're in the NG, your contract has already begun once you signed, unlike the Active Duty people going to MEPS. That means no contract renegotiation for you. You can go to your training NCO or Career Counselor, search for another slot somewhere else in your state that you could train into, but that will be up to the state of they need you somewhere else more. There are a lot of other factors that will come into play, particularly location.
Second, there is no "get out". You're NG, it is a part time job where you work two days a month until your two week AT. There is no job in the NG that is going to give you the experience and training you need to be competitive in that field in the three years you spend in the Guard.
Third, this part about being a family man in the Infantry in the NG is ridiculous. Again, it's a very small time commitment. Most of your drills will be spent doing the same readiness crap every other Soldier is doing. When you do your annual training you will be away for two weeks, the same as every other Soldier. In the NG you are not away from your family more often because you are infantry.
Fourth, as for the part of wanting to put your skills towards a job, do what everyone else is doing, and go to school and get training in the career field you want. Most of the people in the NG aren't doing an MOS their civilian career field is oriented towards. Most of the Infantry I met were cops or firefighters. None of the MPs were cops on the civilian side. Hell, of the Infantry I met or worked with they were history teachers, dental equipment salesmen, lots of cops and fire fighters, construction workers, Government Civilian employees, small business owners, electricians, plumbers, and a dozen other jobs. The only people I saw who learned a skill directly from the NG and applied it to their job were people who commissioned into a medical field and the NG paid for their school. For instance, the NG has a good deal for the PA program, or flight medics. These are not entry level positions.
