MSgt Michael Durkee 992655 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My retroactive determination from the VA stretches back to the end of 2013, I had submitted a 1040X to adjust the taxable income on my Retirement. My initial request to DFAS was to have an adjusted 1099R to show that my entire Retirement was being taxed - they don't do that. The direction I received from DFAS was to submit the 1040X with all VA documentation I may have. The only documentation I had was the determination letter that specifically said the retroactive dates.<br /><br />Well, apparently, that isn't enough for the IRS because I received a letter requesting more "proof". Has anyone else experienced this? How am I supposed to come up with anything more detailed that what I already sent? How can I submit "valid" proof of a retroactive determination of disability to the IRS? 2015-09-25T08:46:02-04:00 MSgt Michael Durkee 992655 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My retroactive determination from the VA stretches back to the end of 2013, I had submitted a 1040X to adjust the taxable income on my Retirement. There are different benefit verification letters available for you to download and print. About 5-10 years ago, I had a return get messed up through no fault of my own (they returned half the amount). I called them up, they pulled my file and said "WTF?" and started the process of fixing it over the phone. Took 3 months to get it (which they explained at the outset), but the process was simple and painless. So, you have to go back to DFAS, and have them recalculate the pay per year!
