How can I upgrade my RE code from a 4 to a 3?

I want to get back into the military. I have a RE code 4 and GUH discharge. How can I get that upgraded to 3 so that I am able to re-enlist?

I am and have been desperately trying to reenlist and get back in the Army since the beginning of 2015.I served from May 16, 2006 until January 22, 2010.My last duty assignment was with the 28th Combat Support hospital out of Ft Bragg, NC.My RE code is 3 I think. Talk with a National Guard Recruiter. They can do waivers on some RE-4 codes.

Truthfully an RE4 is a red flag "we do not want you back ever". "Damaged goods". Your chances of reenlisting are slim to none.
This does not mean that you can't apply for a waiver if the Recruiter wants to pursue it! Talk to a Recuiter!

Step 1) Talk to a Recruiter
Step 2) Fill out ALL required paperwork for the waivers you will need
Step 3) Be patient and pray

For the Army, it is difficult enough qualifying for a PS enlistment under the current business rules prescribed by Human Resources Command with an RE1 and Honorable discharge. But to get your dd214 amended, you have to go through your former service first for an appeal to upgrade your RE4 and discharge. But honestly, that is an uphill battle.

Every service branch has a discharge review board to handle items like this. The burden of proof is on you that you feel the discharge was unusually harsh along with the RE Code. If they find in your favor they can change your discharge. They will not change the discharge if they find it was reasonable.

My son was medically discharged after 4 weeks in AF bmt and 1 week in medhold for eczema. He also had erroneous discharge indicating he didn't notify Lackland of his eczema. Now, MEPs knew about it and cleared him after having him checked by an assigned dermatologist. They did not provide a waiver though. Lackland denied his waiver request. He has a re-entry code of 4c and I think it's unfair. His asvab score was 93. Is thefe a way to contest the code?

Hey MM3 I don’t know about current regs however I was put out the navy in 02 with a oth re4 in 04 I met an ang recruiter and he submitted an ag waiver then went back on active from there. That recruiter informed me that the guard was the only way back into uniform per regs at that time. Keep in mind those regs are aged and we were involved in oif/oef heavily. But I would advise you to begin there
