How can I verify the enlistment or deployment status of a servicemember if I suspect they're lying?

A young coworker of mine recently started dating a guy who claims to be an 11B in the guard. Seems legit but a lot of details don't add up. For instance he says he's deployed right now for 14 weeks, the exact length of an 11B OSUT.

Probably not lying. Sounds like a young boot who doesn't know the difference between "training" and a "deployment." Or at least he's hoping she doesn't!

The Guard isn't Delta Force, there will be a deliberate press release about the deployment. I agree with SSG Carlos Madden . Sounds like a boot that A. doesn't know what he is talking about and B. Wants to sound more important than he otherwise would be.

When he comes back, easiest way to check, "Where is your combat patch?"

Just wondering, why are you looking into an individual that is dating a co-worker? Is it me, or does this sound kind of creepy? To me, sounds like there is a lot more to this story.

Update for those interested. He sent letters. Talking about being deployed, mentioned an IED strapped to a donkey, claims to be on a secret mission in Iran. The return address is from jis basic training company at Benning. She called his company and spoke to his drill SGT. Drill SGT made him call her. He says "I'm sorry ma'am, but I don't know a Callie." He is currently still sending letters as if he's deployed and pretending the phone call never happened.

One question, why do you care? So, he maybe a couch warrior or a Trainees trying to improve his street cred w/ the ladies. If I were you, I would drop the issue or is the co-worker more of where your interests lie.?
