How can my military experience be used to make a positive impact on our world through service in the Peace Corps?

The job market still kinda sucks, so I've been looking for ways in which I could use my military experience to make a positive impact on our world and feel like I have purpose again. So, I was curious if any veterans have served in the Peace Corps and if they could offer any advice.

I actually went through the entire process to join the Peace Corps a few years ago. I guess it is actually very competitive because I was shot down and they told me to reapply in 12 to 18 months to be looked at again.

Have you considered applying for a paid/staff Red Cross job? Lots of veterans, especially in Disaster Services and Service to Armed Forces Division

Go for it if you want. In my day we called the Peace Corps "Mobile Targets" due to the times they got waxed when things will up and their higher didn't yank them out in time due to politics.

Military Service would provide those Peace Corps in better understanding of global challenges around the world in need!
