I'm currently active duty, 11B Staff Sergeant. At the end of this enlistment I will be complete on squad leader time and opening up to a broadening assignment. I want to transition out after this, and believe that a national guard recruiting gig would fit what I'm looking for.

It can be done. I have been offered this in the past. You have to contact in your states Recruiting Command and see if they are even hiring first. And even then you need to see if they will let you apply if you are not a member of their Guard. Sometimes they will or they may require a written agreement. I would first try to contact your state before you talk to a transition specialist as your installation. Sometimes they can mess up the process.

I would have to say, having done this very thing, and then having left and gone back title 10 Active Duty to be a Paratrooper again...FIRST....and most important, you need to be a GLUTEN FOR PUNISHMENT. Then you need to enjoy unnecessary stress. Lastly, get used to the attitude of "What have you done for me lately?"

I don't see any current postings. Try to contact the CAARNG Recruiting and Retention BN (RRB) and see if they have ADOS positions available. If so you'll have to put in an ADOS packet. Bad thing about ADOS orders is they are temporary (a few months). Good thing is that it gives you the opportunity to show what an asset you can be when an AGR vacancy comes in and gives you some experience with the Guard. This is how I got my AGR gig.
