Was talking with someone yesterday who was upset because the VA wants him to come in every 6 months to evaluate his medical condition.

He of course thinks this is BS and they are just stringing him along.

Now to be fair he already has a disability rating and is receiving money.

I told him he needs to understand that the intent of treatment is for you to get better. In his case his "disability" may get better or worse over time and that the reason for the follow ups was to evaluate progress not to "screw you over." Also if during a f/u they realize you are not getting better you may end up with a higher rating.

Anyway he is not the first person i've heard complain about this had another friend whose condition resolved and they got pissed because their rating dropped......come on people......you cant have both.....if you are fortunate enough to have a condition that can be treated or even cured be grateful.....I mean after all that amputee's leg is not going to grow back.

Anyway guess i'm just saying things could always be worse....be thankful for what you have, and grateful for the opportunities you are presented with.

Dealing with the VA made me want to stab my own eye out with a spoon. Not the People. The People are great. The Bureaucracy. The bureaucracy is everything that nightmares are made of.

Usually going through the process once, is enough for anyone. This is speaking as someone who has gone through it once (and is going through it again).

That said, I actively avoid using the VA Health Care for anything, preferring my primary physician to actually treat my maladies, but I "record" them with the VA, "just in case" because you never know.

Now.. I'm biased. The VA (health care) is one of the few topics I will allow myself to go full steam on. I try to be fair with them, but I don't try to be "nice" as I believe the organization as a whole has just lost that courtesy.
