My son woke up with a fever I couldn't control.Took him to the doctor, then took him to find his sisters present. Then we went to the beach and we hung out on the beach because i didnt want him to feel hes being punished so me and my son spent a lot of time on the beach. AMAZING DAY then I finished it off with a cup of rum
Response by SPC Jesse Cannon made Nov 13 at 2013 9:45 PM 2013-11-13T21:45:21-05:00 2013-11-13T21:45:21-05:00 SSG Laureano Pabon 6164

I work at Wall Street in NYC, While every one knows I'm a Veteran I was never asked if I wanted to take the day off, So on veterans day I was the only one working in my Department 'Windows 7", as senior Tech, and with the servers down, I managed to work 8 hours with out a successful built (Building a Bank Computer to Windows 7), When I got home it was me and my son alone at home, the wife had to take the oldest boy to the doctor, so me and my baby (4 Year Old) stood home. I am nearly 8 months into this deployment and nearing the finish line to come home. Veterans Day consisted of a cake in the DFAC honoring U.S. troops and pictures later that evening of my family enjoying a local Veterans Day parade.

The best part was seeing my 4 year old son locked up with a Present Arms to the Color Guard, my 13 yr old daughter in the marching band wearing a set of my dog tags and my wife and 8 month old baby boy watching from the side lines as the floats honoring the country's sacrifices went by.

I couldn't be here doing this job without them. So my Veteran's Day, although not terribly great because im in Afghanistan, was pretty damn awesome because it reminded me of why I am here. Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 14 at 2013 2:26 AM 2013-11-14T02:26:46-05:00 2013-11-14T02:26:46-05:00 SCPO David Lockwood 6206

I spent the day with my wife. If you ask me she is as much a veteran as I am. She was there serving with me for 23 of the 26 years I was on active duty and made the same sacrifices, if not more than I did.
Response by SCPO David Lockwood made Nov 14 at 2013 6:24 AM 2013-11-14T06:24:05-05:00 2013-11-14T06:24:05-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 6207

Every Veterans Day and Memorial Day I take my Daughters (4 and 7) to a Federal Cemetery to lay flowers on Veterans headstones. I am stationed on Okinawa now, there are no US cemeteries on Okinawa.
