My son woke up with a fever I couldn't control.Took him to the doctor, then took him to find his sisters present. Then we went to the beach and we hung out on the beach because i didnt want him to feel hes being punished so me and my son spent a lot of time on the beach. I am nearly 8 months into this deployment and nearing the finish line to come home. Veterans Day consisted of a cake in the DFAC honoring U.S. troops and pictures later that evening of my family enjoying a local Veterans Day parade.

The best part was seeing my 4 year old son locked up with a Present Arms to the Color Guard, my 13 yr old daughter in the marching band wearing a set of my dog tags and my wife and 8 month old baby boy watching from the side lines as the floats honoring the country's sacrifices went by.

I couldn't be here doing this job without them. So my Veteran's Day, although not terribly great because im in Afghanistan, was pretty damn awesome because it reminded me of why I am here. SSG Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 14 Nov 2013 02:26:46 -0500 2013-11-14T02:26:46-05:00 Response by SCPO David Lockwood made Nov 14 at 2013 6:24 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-did-you-celebrate-or-commemorate-veterans-day-activity-this-year?n=6206&urlhash=6206

I spent the day with my wife. If you ask me she is as much a veteran as I am. She was there serving with me for 23 of the 26 years I was on active duty and made the same sacrifices, if not more than I did.
SCPO David Lockwood Thu, 14 Nov 2013 06:24:05 -0500 2013-11-14T06:24:05-05:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 14 at 2013 6:53 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-did-you-celebrate-or-commemorate-veterans-day-activity-this-year?n=6207&urlhash=6207

Every Veterans Day and Memorial Day I take my Daughters (4 and 7) to a Federal Cemetery to lay flowers on Veterans headstones. I am stationed on Okinawa now, there are no US cemeteries on Okinawa.
