How did you financially plan for your transition from the military?

I started saving the last year that I was in 50% of my pay was put back no more dining out and limited entertainment so that way I had the money for a house and utilities and food when I was unemployed and looking for a new career

Always have to have a plan to exit the military. That is an absolute must. Unfortunately, some exit without this plan.

Hey I started planning to go back to Los Angeles Pierce College even though I was an F-student! Oh that was a suggestion from my Mother before I left for Vietnam! As I became a SHORT TIMER I was asking guys in my unit what are you going to do when you get back Home??? Some said they were going to go to a Trade School By a Motorcycle! I said to one of my buddies that said he was going to Re-Up! I said NO but you are a Great Electrician! He did all kinds of Elec. Wiring in our Hootch and our Gas Light basement under our Hootch! That's another story! He told me Hey I have 3 Meals a Day and a Roof over my Head! Not for me! Some times YOU AND I just have to GO FOR BROKE!!!!
