Hall. He was my chief (E-7). I kept in touch with him and he ended up retiring as a Master Chief. His advice helped my through accomplish a lot of goals. He was my football coach, wrestling coach, and academic advisor in high school. His coach and mentor was Ned Novell, who served under Patton. By the way, Tom was a friend and teammate of Dave Adolph in both high school and college. Adolph coached many college and NFL defenses to include Ohio State, the Cleveland Browns, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, and Kansas City Chiefs. We took a World Literature course together. Since we met he has pushed me to focus on my education, caused me to reconsider going further (my original plan was to complete on my BA and he convinced me to work for a PhD), and has supported my process of getting and staying sober. Burroughs 4145834 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="118487" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/118487-po2-orlando-sims-mpa">PO2 Orlando Sims, MPA</a> I met my influential mentor while serving with the 357th Aviation Detachment in Chievres, AFB Belgium in support of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe GEN Alexander Haig. At the time he was Major John P. Edwards, Commander, 357th Aviation Detachment and he mtovated me to become an officer after serving 9 years enlisted up to the grade of SSG/E-6. He retired as a Colonel and we&#39;re still in contact today. I retired as a Colonel as well and we stayed in contact through every Command I had at the Company Level, Battalion Level, and the (3) Brigade Commands that I had (one downrange). Leonard Wood. Johnny Long showed me that regardless of my rank you should never stop learning and never stop teaching. Continue to live the NCO Creed and you will have Soldiers to follow you with question due to the purpose, direction and motivation you will provide.
