I am currently a E4/42A in CARNG. I have been in 4 years come December. I have a big interest on the warrant side. I currently work in IT as a govt contractor on the civilian side. I am working on getting cybersecurity certificates civilian side. I have DLC finished and IPPSA course almost finished. Is there anything you recommend to make my packet very strong when I reach out to Warrant recruiter?

You have to be a SSG with ALC complete. You are not eligible to apply without ALC

That's brutal........... I understand all Warrant paths are MOS specific. I've seen folks make it from as low as E5 with 3 NCOERs and without the need to have knocked out the next level MPE. Needs of the Army..............

CPT (Join to see) I know that on AD they do accept E5s with ALC complete, it's just that by the time they have all the required time, NCOERs, and the LOR from another 420A, they're almost always a SSG by then.

Typically to go to Warrant one needs a few or several NCOER's which require one being an E5+, which requires getting promoted from SPC to SGT, which might require leaving the NG to go to the USAR to make that happen depending on the promotability of your state and MOS.

The minimum requirements are at least E5 with ALC completed, and at least three NCOERs in a 42A position, and 30 college credit hours.

To be competitive, the senior rater on those NCOERs should mention potential as a warrant officer, and you should get a letter of rec from a CW3-CW5.

The problem you will run into is that most 420A duty positions in the Cal Guard are AGR, so you will be competing for when one of a very small number of MDAY 420A positions becomes available.
