How do I find out if my soldier went TDY or deployed, or any other reason (haven't heard back from him)?

Before the communication stopped, he said he was still on an assignment, which I'm not sure what kind. How long can they be and are cell phones prohibited or just lack of time and service?

An embarassing way the Marines have of handling such things is for the family member to contact the recruiter... recruiter will work the chain and bright & early during morning formation the 1St Sgt will direct the young soldier to write his mom.

Assuming you’re his mom...

Did peivided you are Familyvand can prove it you simply contact the unit they are assigned to. If you are unaware of the unit contact you congressman’s office and they will find out for you. If you are not family, and cannot prove you are then you may have a tough time based on privacy requirements.

Cannot tell you the number of calls I fielded from mom and dad trying to get in contact with their military "child" while working as a Desk Sergeant overseas. Time gets away from you before realizing holy crap it's been 6 months since I last contacted my parents. I'm sure it can be troubling on the other end when it is their child's first assignment.

Contact the Red Cross Hero care network either on line or at the 1-800 number. They will get his status and confirm everything is okay

It all depends- you would think that if he had a chance he would contact you- it might be intentional tho.

As his Girlfriend, there really is not much YOU can do, But a family member, yeah they can contact the post he is assigned to, or even the unit he is assigned to provided he has given that information to his parents. second, but will take longer, the family member can try going through your representative or senator. the key to this is the legal status, hence why you would probably get no where in trying to find him, Immediate family on the other hand would have a much greater chance of success.
