Can someone please tell me some steps on how to get my family down here? I am married with a son. Also, how I go about getting housing and such? Will they give me guidance at in processing on how to do this as well? I heard you get a sponsor when will I make contact with them? Thank you. One of my daughters was married to a guy before he enlisted. She stayed with her mother and me while he went through OSUT at Ft. Leonard Wood. After he graduated he was sent to Ft. Hood. The Army sent a moving truck to pack out my daughter and their infant son. Housing was arranged for him and the movers took everything to Ft. Hood and unpacked them into Post Housing. There was very little effort on the part of my daughter and my son-in-law. If not, ask one of the NCOs that work in the Inprocessing Company. I guess you don't have one.
- Talk to your Defense Travel System administrator about the PCS move and what he/she can do to facilitate the PCS move.
- You will get a finance brief. If money is tight, and I assume it is, ask them for an advance travel pay to put money in your pocket for the expenses you incur to move your family. You will also settle your own travel pay like reimbursement for your hotel, mileage, and meals for your travel.
- I believe you qualify for Dislocation Allowance of $1500 to help you with the move.
- How far is your home of record to your first post?
- Go to the housing office and get your name put on a waiting list for on post housing. They will also a list of reputable landlords and landlords that are banned. They should be able to guide you through everything. As far as moving, register with move.mil. Also contact on post housing and get that process started. Do you have your orders that list wife and son? SGT Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 15 Jun 2020 21:20:16 -0400 2020-06-15T21:20:16-04:00 2020-06-14T11:02:20-04:00
