How do I go about an ETP in the Air National Guard? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-do-i-go-about-an-etp-in-the-air-national-guard <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was 32 at the time of my enlistment. Yes, older but I wanted to serve my country as an officer. I had an officer recruiter willing to work with me but my air national guard did not want to release me so I ended up enlisting with the guard. Now , I&#39;m 33. A year has passed. Nothing has been accomplished. I receive offers for officer commission from other bases. I want to take those and go active duty. Now with that year misspent, how do I get an Exception To Policy so I can join an aviation program either Warrant Officer or USAF Pilot/Nav/CSO/WSO? I am having trouble following what you are asking. You were 32 and joined enlisted- an officer recruiter stated they would help you get a commission? Based on what? Your same sentence states your ANG would not release you so you ended up enlisting with the Guard. Not following that logic. You are not specific on where offers are coming from- if they are AD bases- they do not offer slots- the recruiters do that. Other Guard bases most likely have open pilot positions, but you would have to interview and be accepted. You can&#39;t take an offer and just go AD as that is not how it works. Your command has to agree to let you go and that starts in your unit with your direct super just to get out of your enlistment. If you received a bonus (as a fire fighter I am guessing you did) you will have to pay that back. Little more to it than just giving you a yes or no answer. The year mis-spent- it normally takes a few years (first enlistment) to be accepted into a pilot program. Do you have your private license- have you taken the AFOQT- what is your degree in... I will be honest- this is not a fast process and I believe 30 is the pilot age limit. Even with the shortage they are adhering to that unless there are some serious benefits to the military.
