How do I go about putting in a packet for Army Flight Medic?

I haven’t been able to get a good answer on this, but I enlisted in the regular army as a 68w. I am currently at JBSA for AIT, I am a nationally registered paramedic with experience as a full time firefighter/Paramedic prior to enlistment. I do not know the best route to put a packet in for the flight medic program or if it’s possible to do so straight from AIT? Also would I have to go through the army’s paramedic program?

Talk to 68W branch or hell even go talk to the guys over at the flight paramedic program. Either of those sources can probably give you the updated flight paramedic packet. You’ll only have to do critical care, so that’s nice.

Sorry but, you'll have to go through the US Army's Flight Medic program, however, your civilian Ed./paramedic training gives you an edge. Pull your civilian credentials and attach to a DA-4187 request for additional training. The 'dis'orderly Rm training NCO, or your PLT SGT should assist. Good luck. FYI ask for the school in conjunction with an assignment to the MFO. It may better your chances for the school.

You will have to be a medic for at least a year and then put in a packet. I am leaving next month for Flight paramedic, also just a heads up from my understanding it is difficult to get in the course when you are already a paramedic. My buddy is a paramedic and will have to take the paramedic portion over again. This will more than likely happen to you once you have graduated from ait and its been at least a year and once you put your packet in.

I just finished the Army flight paramedic program. If you are a nationally certified paramedic they will fast track you through to the Critical Care/FPC portion of the program and then on to the F2 portion at Ft Rucker. That is, assuming you get into the program. We had people in the course who waited 3 years for the slot.

Put in a DA form 4187 Requsting to go to flight medic School. Your comand has to sign off on it. Do have a fowoll on duty station? If not this should be easer.
You need to get a flight Phyical, (Do you where glasse's. If so this may be a problem depening on your vison) You should be able to get this at Brook in the flight med section if they still have it. if not see if you can get one with the Air force medical people. There should be some of the insturters that have to info. There is a pacet that has to be filled out. If no one will help you at your company. Ask to see the Shcools N.C.O. Sorry I do Not Have any body over there any more.

AMEDD AVIATION CREWMEMBER COURSE (300-F3)Flight Paramedic Phase III

MISSION - "" To provide qualified Critical Care Flight Paramedics standardized aviation training and to treat, stabilize, and provide in-flight medical care to the critically injured or ill while being transported aboard air ambulances during peacetime and combat operations "

HISTORY: IIntroduction: This article explores the history of the U.S. Army AMEDD Aviation Crewmember Course, presents the current training curriculum, and the future direction of training initiatives. While the helicopter as an air ambulance was first utilized in Burma in 1944, and subsequently proved its utility in the Korean conflict, the modern doctrine of MEDEVAC operations was birthed in the jungles of Southeast Asia. It was in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, in the 1960`s, where the helicopter became synonymous with life-saving air evacuation. The comments of the brave men who flew those missions, are especially poignant to today`s flight medic.

COURSE PREREQUISITE

(1) Graduated the phase I and Phase II (or home station equivalent) Flight Paramedic Course

(2) Qualified in the MOS 68W

(3) Must possess a current and qualified Class 3 Flight Physical, IAW AR 40-501

(4) Must be a volunteer for flight duty

(5) Must possess a high school diploma or GED

(6) GT Score of at least 107

(7) Must have a minimum of 24 months service time remaining (Active Duty Only)(Service time remaining for Reserve Components is governed by AGR 350-1 and AR 135-200

(8) Must possess as a minimum a current Nationally Registered Paramedic or higher certification (must be National not state), Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification

(9) Security Clearance required: NONE

(10) All students must meet height and weight standards IAW AR 600-9

APPLICATION PROCESS

Automatically enrolled upon graduation of Phase I and Phase II Flight Paramedic Course at JBSA.
If home station Phase I and Phase II were completed, Contact the Health Care Services Branch Schools Manager for details to enroll in the AMEDD Aviation Crewmember Course.

FAILURE TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROCESS, APPLICANT WILL NOT BE ENROLLED
